same shit, different asshole

I don’t really understand what the GOP convention looks like from the rest of the country. From NYC, it sort of looks like nothing special. Although even the Times couldn’t help itself from admitting that the Republicans sort of ideologically curbstomped the Kerry campaign for four consecutive hours yesterday. I’m actually sort of disinterested in what Bush is going to say tonight, not because it’ll certainly be dumb, but because they’ve already previewed the whole fucking speech. Incidentally, anyone who claims the Bush twins “lit up” the Convention is obviously lying. They looked like they were stoned.

I don’t know what kind of play the protests have been getting elsewhere. THey’re not getting much play here, either. Apparently any time more than six people in a group or even in a row vocally express anti-GOP sentiments, the NYPD rounds up everyone on that side of the street for that block and hauls them off. Some people are calling this Gestapo tactics. It’s more of a compassionate Gestapo tactic. They’re not going to beat you with truncheons or dehumanized, but you won’t get to do anything for the next 36 hours if you even look like a protester. THe more I think about it, the more i realize there is no real benefit of this strategy as opposed to actual gestapo tactics. is there even a definitions of gestapo tactics? does it have to be something that the Gestapo did or can it just be something in the spirit of the Gestapo?

Incidentally, if anyone has a job for me, please give it to me right now.

I was going to work out some sort of chart comparing NY and Chicago but as it turns out, i don’t especially feel like doing it the whole thing right now. living without the internet is fucking horrible.
