“It is my aim, and every effort bent, that the sum and history of my life, which in the same sentence is my obit and epitaph too, shall be them both: He made the books and he died.”—w. faulkner in a bitchy letter to another man of letters.
this from the same dude who told us that the past isn’t dead, it’s not even past. you can torture someone’s written body of evidence into contradicting itself, but i agree with both sentiments.
1) shut up and do something, and then later we can talk (briefly) about what you did. but not until you do it. i’ll be over here working on my something. holler later.
2) it’s really hard to not get uptight and really think the world is totally fucked if the majority of americans can’t forget the one-use-only economic miracle-cum-world-history-happenstance that resulted in the baby boom and a half-century of unprecedented common/wealth. i realize item 2 is in violation of item 1.
1a) the internet is made of people! when i die, please add this to my wikipedia page under quotes. 1a.1) i am assuming that by 2075, when i am executed by the chinese govt for pirating super mario galaxy 9000, wikipedia will have pages for everyone.
